Programs: JFS at the JCC

Jewish Family Service, the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC), JEWISHcolorado, Volunteers of America, Shalom Cares, and Kavod Senior Life teamed up to provide social, recreational, educational, and health programming to older adults. The programs all take place at the JCC, 350 S. Dahlia St., (unless otherwise noted). This page is updated monthly with the program schedule.  

A suggested $5.00 fee will be charged for many JFS at the JCC functions. Please note if there is a fee under “Cost” for each program.

Active Minds: The Soviet Union: The Road After Collapse

What was known as the Soviet Union dissolved twenty-five years ago this past December.  Join Active Minds as we explore the history of the Soviet Union as well as the causes of its failure.  In addition, we will discuss the continued relevance of the Russian Federation, the influence of Vladimir Putin, and ongoing challenges to democracy in the region.

Fit & Fold combines chair yoga with strength and balance exercises. Join Amy of Iora Primary Care as she works with you to improve balance and strength, help reduce fall risk, and increase physical activity. Bring a friend! Iora Primary Care is specifically designed to meet the needs of Medicare-eligible adults 65+. They have multiple offices in the area and can coordinate transportation if needed.

Oudtshoorn’s prosperity was the ostrich, whose feathers became fashionable accessories for European nobility. The boom attracted a large Jewish immigrant population of about 100 families, mostly Lithuanians. Oudtshoorn was known as “the Jerusalem of Africa.” Join Phillip Greenberg who visited these former farms on his visit to South Africa.
